The Voice Before the Sword

Before the swords clash, voices rise. Klapa singing is woven into the cultural identity of Korčula, an island known for its rich musical tradition. Voices in harmony without instruments, emotion carried through song, a sense of belonging. Klapa is one of the most recognisable symbols of Dalmatia, recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage and safeguarded for future generations.

Mixed klapa Sveta Cecilija was founded in 2016, and to this day its many-voiced singing sets the stage for the Moreška that follows, deepening the experience of Korčulan tradition.
